Yoga for Beginners: A Gentle Introduction

Starting yoga can feel a little daunting, especially if it’s your first time on the mat. I’ll be honest: I felt the same way! In my very first class, my teacher tried to get me to stand on my head. Needless to say, I wasn’t having any of it!

But after a few months, my curiosity got the better of me. I went back and quickly realised that every teacher has their own unique style. And that’s the beauty of yoga—it’s a personal practice, and there’s something for everyone.

I still remember that first class and how overwhelming it felt, so I always keep that in mind when welcoming new students. I want to ensure you feel comfortable, supported, and never pressured—headstands are entirely optional!

Why Choose a Beginner’s Class?

Joining a beginner’s yoga class is a great way to explore yoga, especially if you’re curious about the practice. For me, keeping class sizes small is essential. This way, I can give you more individual attention and help tailor the practice to your body’s needs, making sure you feel supported every step of the way.

In these classes, we’ll focus on mastering the basics. You’ll get to know foundational Asanas (postures) and learn how to adjust them to suit your body. I’ll also introduce you to Pranayama (breathwork) and mindfulness techniques to help you connect more deeply with your practice—and with yourself.

What to Expect

Each class is designed to leave you feeling calm, rejuvenated, and centred. By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of yoga fundamentals and feel confident enough to attend any class moving forward, knowing you’ve got the basics covered.

Yoga isn’t about perfection; it’s about showing up and finding balance. Whether you're looking for relaxation, stress relief, or a gentle way to build strength, I’m here to guide you through every step of your journey.
